Dear friend,
As you read reports on the Special Session of General Assembly in Richmond, you will see that some of the proposals emanating from Portland, Oregon have made their way into proposals before the House of Delegates and State Senate.
2020 is not an election year for your state legislators. However, the campaign for all seats in the House and many seats in the State Senate will begin in earnest Day 1 after the presidential election on November 3.
I intend to continue to speak and vote in behalf of what too many of our fellow citizens have come to deride as "law and order." In our district, our State Police, our Chesterfield police, and our Sheriffs and their deputies in Chesterfield, Powhatan, Goochland, and Fluvanna already practice policies to protect the safety and equity under the law of all men and women irrespective of considerations of race, religion, etc. They stand in harm's way for us each and every day, so we must stand with them in expressing our gratitude and in advocating for public policies that do not even denigrate let alone disable the men and women of our law-enforcement agencies.
The resources of my campaign and the campaigns of my colleagues have been depleted in waging campaigns in 2017 and 2019, when we lost our majority in both the House and Senate. In 2021 we will strive to regain those majorities. Your contribution can make a difference, and you can be assured that the policies you want will be the policies I champion.
Thank you, and my best wishes to you and yours,
Lee Ware
